Using Miro for the Accelerate IDEAthon

Set up Miro, your virtual whiteboard, for the Accelerate IDEAthon.

We strongly encourage you to create a free Miro account before the IDEAthon starts.

Scroll down to learn more about Miro and how to create your free account.

What is Miro?

Miro is an online collaborative whiteboard platform to bring teams together, anytime, anywhere.

Think of Miro as a virtual whiteboard. It can be used to write on, add post-its, images and even videos. You can start with a blank whiteboard or use existing frameworks and templates as a starting point.

To learn more about Miro, watch this short introductory video.

Why do I need a Miro account?

We’re using Miro for some of the interactive elements of the Accelerate IDEAthon, like the brainstorming and ideation sessions. While you can join the Miro board without an account by simply following the links that will be shared with you, there are two key advantages to creating a free account.

  1. You will show up on the board with your name which makes it easier for other team members to collaborate with you and respond to your ideas and suggestions

  2. You will be able to save your boards and access all boards from one place (without an account, you can only access a board via the link)

Creating an account is completely free, so there is really no reason not to.

How do I create a Miro account?

Easy, just click the link below and follow the instructions on the Miro website.

How do I use Miro?

Miro is intuitive and easy to use. However, if you have never used a virtual whiteboard before, it’s probably a good idea to familiarise yourself with how it works before we kick off the IDEAthon so you are comfortable with the platform and can contribute to the sessions.

To get familiar with Miro, watch this short Getting Started Series.

If you want a more detailed tutorial, we’ve got your covered as well.

We hope this information helps you get started with Miro.

We look forward to seeing you for the first IDEAthon session on November 24th.
